Community Event at Central Drive Field

Today I had the privilege of attending the first community event held at Central Drive Field, organised by Gwella (Gwella Wales). I was invited by Mike Evans of Shotton Town Council to take part and set up a stall, and of course I was more than happy to support.

The day brought together a range of local organisations, including representatives from Coleg Cambria (promoting their “Your Future Starts Here” short courses), the local Police, and the food bank. Community favourite DJ Cookie Partyman also made an appearance in his “Battle Bus,” keeping the atmosphere lively with music and entertainment for families.

The event was well attended by local residents and their children, creating a real sense of community spirit. For me, it was a valuable opportunity to share information about the ongoing work my team and I are doing in the fight against knife crime — work that is being carried out not just nationally, but right here on my own doorstep. Many visitors stopped to engage with me, taking away leaflets, car stickers, pens, and most importantly, the message that "together we can make a difference".

As the first event of its kind on the field, it was a great success and I sincerely hope it becomes a regular fixture, growing year on year. A truly enjoyable day for all involved.
